Farm & woodland tours for all ages

Educational Visits

Learn & explore on a working Devonshire farm

Designed to Educate & Inspire

We think that learning where your food comes from and finding out more about nature & and conservation is just as important as learning how to read and write – and we want to help make that possible. At Harlings, we are lucky enough to be able to offer a limited number of fully funded educational visits. We want to help develop an appreciation for our world, and what better way than to learn about the natural environment than an exciting trip to a working farm in action?

Our free educational nature & environmental farm visits help all ages to learn, understand and become engaged with the countryside, conservation and sustainability. Situated within the Tamar Valley National Landscape, our farm has breathtaking views, green pastures, established woodlands, and lots of friendly Pedigree British Heritage and rare breed livestock – from Dorset Horn sheep to Berkshire pigs, English Goats, Gloucester Cows, Welsh and Shetland ponies, poultry and waterfowl.

Discover the Wonder of Nature

Designed to educate and inspire within a non-judgemental and calm environment, our visits can be adapted to fit with existing learning subjects, and tailored to suit individual needs, ages and abilities. Lasting a minimum of two hours and scheduled during weekdays, each visit includes a tour of the farm and walk in our stunning mature woodlands, plus interaction with and education about British native rare breed livestock, wildlife & plants.

To ensure our undivided attention to your group, we only hold one group visit at a time, and have a maximum capacity of 15 people per visit, with a minimum of four visitors. We’ve ensured that Harlings is fully accessible, so that no one faces barriers when learning about our environment.

Adult supervision is required at all times for anyone under the age of 18, and our funded visits are available for:

  • Schools and colleges for students under 18 years old
  • Social preschools and nurseries for children aged 3 years old and above
  • Health organisations
  • Environmental and home-schooling, for children aged-18 years old
  • Charities and Community Investment Companies

Due to our limited availability of funded visits per year, please contact us in advance to avoid disappointment.
