Experience & Therapeutic Green Care at Harlings Farm

Skills & Well-being Sessions

Relax, Explore & Learn in Nature

By connecting with nature, we can find peace and rejuvenation in a world that can often feel chaotic and stressful. At Harlings, we’ve focused on creating an environment where people can relax and reconnect with themselves and others, and enjoy the many benefits of spending time in nature for our mental and physical health within dedicated Green Care sessions.

Green Care refers to structured therapy or treatment programmes within natural environments, and we’re proud to have worked with various organisations to improve our surroundings and expertise to offer both Educational & Therapeutic Green Care. All our staff and associates connected with providing our farm visits have received the required mandatory training and checks to ensure your safety, including Safeguarding and a clear DBS check. We are proud to be fully Code Compliant in Green Care, and are fully insured and experienced in the sessions we provide.

Refocusing Education, Freeing Minds & Empowering Individuals

We offer weekly two-hour sessions across a six-week period, featuring a wide selection of practical and purposeful activities that are tailored for people’s age and abilities. Available for individuals and groups up to six people with both morning & afternoon visits available on weekdays, our scheme aims to provide an environment where people can develop social skills, explore a new world, assess their life goals, promote independence and confidence, rebalance away from the stresses of daily hustle and bustle, and improve their general well-being.

How Can Green Care Help?

The benefits of Green Care in promoting psychological health have been proven by extensive research, including promoting personal development, facilitating social contact, encouraging physical exercise, and in creating a peaceful environment that helps to relieve stress, mental fatigue, irritability, impulsiveness and reduced tolerance.

Our varied sessions are designed to include and empower people of every ability, providing the opportunity to make memories and learn new skills in a beautiful and safe setting, or simply some time to enjoy all that nature has to offer.

Below is a non-exhaustive list of some of the conditions that research has proven that Green Care can benefit:

  • Depression, diminished self-esteem and reduced confidence
  • Anxiety, grievance and post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Attention deficit disorders
  • Autism, and developmental and learning disorders
  • Dementia
  • Bipolar disorder
